Real World Records remixes. - October 12, 2007

I have done a few remixes over the last year for Real World records. They are now allowing their remix artists to post the remixes they've done on their own websites. I am posting the remixes I have done so far.

Next up I am working on a remix of "Kunlarim Sensiz " by Uzbek world music diva Sevara Nazarkhan.
"Kunlarim" features a mix of traditional instruments of Uzbekistan, modern electronic production and Sevara's soaring angelic voice. Look for my take on this track soon.

NYC/Blues Overkill/Lee Oskar & Friends - October 2, 2007

New York was a whirlwind good time! Highlights were Monday night jazz in Harlem at the Lenox Lounge, http://www.lenoxlounge.com/, Tuesday night jazz with Snarky Puppy http://www.snarkypuppy.com/ on the Bowery and meeting Jimmy Coppolo who makes custom basses and guitars, http://www.allevacoppolo.com/.

Back in Seattle I am singing with Dudley Taft in his new project "Dudley Taft Blues Overkill" http://dudleytaftbluesoverkill.com/Home.html which he describes as Texas Blues infused with Mississippi Delta, a hint of British Invasion, with Northwest sensibilty. He has put together a really great band. We will be performing at Waldo's in Kirkland Friday, October 26th and at The Mainstage across from Key Arena Wednesday, November 14th.

I had the honor of being asked by Lee Oskar to join him on stage for a song at his last performance Friday, September 28th. It was a blast, literally, blowing my horn for a great crowd at the Highway 99 Blues club.

Get out your raincoat and boots and go see some shows, Fall is here. Cheers!

Made In China - September 5, 2007

Summer is winding down and I have been busy.
I just finished up an original composition for a movie by Seattle director John Helde called "Made In China".
It's a documentary uncovering his father’s experience growing up an American boy in pre-World War II China and discovering a community of other Americans with similar childhoods.
The song I wrote is an attempt at Chinese pop music and was sung in Chinese by Qi Zhang.
The lyrics are taken from a famous Chinese poem.
Check it out on the music page.
OmniVoid is revving back up for the Fall as we rehearse with our new rhythm section of Carl Martin on drums and Patrick McKinnen on bass.
Look for some show dates soon.
I am off to NYC for a week and I will give you the report when I return.
Cheers!
