Emiliana Torrini Remix - February 1, 2009
Rough Trade records put the call out for remixes of Emiliana Torrini's "Jungle Drum" off her latest album "Me & Armini". "Jungle Drum" is a fun, light-hearted track with Emiliana's hopelessly cute vocals and some fun guitars and synths as well. I've given it a serious dancefloor makeover while maintaining the essence of the original. Please enjoy!

NYC/Blues Overkill/Lee Oskar & Friends - October 2, 2007
Back in Seattle I am singing with Dudley Taft in his new project "Dudley Taft Blues Overkill" http://dudleytaftbluesoverkill.com/Home.html which he describes as Texas Blues infused with Mississippi Delta, a hint of British Invasion, with Northwest sensibilty. He has put together a really great band. We will be performing at Waldo's in Kirkland Friday, October 26th and at The Mainstage across from Key Arena Wednesday, November 14th.
I had the honor of being asked by Lee Oskar to join him on stage for a song at his last performance Friday, September 28th. It was a blast, literally, blowing my horn for a great crowd at the Highway 99 Blues club.
Get out your raincoat and boots and go see some shows, Fall is here. Cheers!
Made In China - September 5, 2007
Summer is winding down and I have been busy.
I just finished up an original composition for a movie by Seattle director John Helde called "Made In China".
It's a documentary uncovering his father’s experience growing up an American boy in pre-World War II China and discovering a community of other Americans with similar childhoods.
The song I wrote is an attempt at Chinese pop music and was sung in Chinese by Qi Zhang.
The lyrics are taken from a famous Chinese poem.
Check it out on the music page.
OmniVoid is revving back up for the Fall as we rehearse with our new rhythm section of Carl Martin on drums and Patrick McKinnen on bass.
Look for some show dates soon.
I am off to NYC for a week and I will give you the report when I return.
Cheers!

Chicago and SCM CD Release Party. - June 17, 2007
Well I just blew back from Chicago in time to sit in with Sky Cries Mary at Neumos for their CD release party of "Small Town". I played trumpet on the track 'Missing' and they asked me to come out and play at the show. I was honored to do so and totally enjoyed getting on stage in front of a packed house and blowing my horn. I really appreciated the round of applause and many cocktails I received from the fans! Thank you!
Before that I was in Chicago for NeoCon 2007. I was hired by Gunlocke, a high end sustainable office furniture company out of New York, to perform at their showroom at the famous Kennedy owned Merchandise Mart in downtown Chi-town. It features 1200 showrooms and exhibitors showcasing thousands of cutting-edge commercial products and is attended by more than 50,000 design professionals. I layed down some silky smooth lounge grooves featuring live trumpet, keys, vocals and percussion. I had a blast performing for a packed showroom of design professionals from all across the country while they got their drink on and perused Gunlocke’s stylish wares. Gunlocke’s tagline: “Performance in Wood”.

More Remixing! - April 3, 2007
Check it out, I just finished a remix of "Resistencia" by Los De Abajo called "Reguetón Rendición". This one is 'muy caliente' ! You can hear it by clicking the link below.
I have just completed 2 new remixes.
The first is my remix of the Joi song "What You Are", the "U R Tranquility Mix".
Check it out at this link: http://www.realworldremixed.com/remix.php?remix_id=hmPMegFnjnHMwtCm
The 2nd, which I literally just finished, is my remix of Angelique Kidjo's "Salala" called "Djin Djin Dub", featuring guest vocals from Peter Gabriel. This is a dub reggae take on the song and I even bust out a trumpet solo!
Just taking a second to let you know what I am working on right now.
OmniVoid just recorded drum tracks for 6 new songs at Studio X in Seattle. They sound awesome and thanks to Tate for the playing!
Expect a new CD from OmniVoid this Spring!
I have been recording vocal tracks with R.J. May for the next WordBlender album titled Anatomy.
We have 18 new tracks, don't know which will make the album, and still a few guest musicians to get on tape.
I have been working on a remix for Real World recording artists Joi. The track is called "What you are" and incorporates many world influences.
I will let you know when it is finished. More on Joi:
Joi are Bengali but an Arabic influence here is strong and the 'oud, played by Yazid, was the initial inspiration for the track. The 'oud is a pear shaped, fretless plucked instrument originally from Mesopotamia which relates to the Western lute or Bengali dutara. For Farook this instrument has crossed boundaries and has united cultures, and unity with the embattled Middle Eastern nations is a theme of the song. The Bengali lyrics sung by Apeksha Dandekar are all about reciprocal understanding : " I know what you're saying!"
